The 35-year-old supermodel is three months pregnant with her second child - believed to be due in August.
A source said: "It's true. Kate is pregnant. She's overjoyed at the news. She's passed the 12-week stage so she's telling more people."
Kate - who has six-year-old daughter Lila Grace with magazine publisher Jefferson Hack - has been dating The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince since March 2008.
The source said of Jamie, 39: "He's really excited at the prospect of becoming a dad. He already dotes on Lila Grace and is besotted with Kate.
"Kate and Jamie are closer now than ever. She's not going out as much as she used to but when she does he puts a protective arm round her."
The couple, who were reportedly in a panic after Lila's nanny pulled out of a forthcoming family trip to South Africa, have decided to use the holiday to spend quality time with Kate's daughter.
A source said: "They have decided it will be low-key, not much partying, and they'll have a lot of family time with the three of them."

The British model-turned-presenter admires Lady GaGa because she is confident enough to go out in just her underwear, but doubts she will ever copy the US singer because of her less-than-flattering knicker collection.

The British actress has revealed the 'Revolutionary Road' co-stars developed a special lingo to help get them through challenging filming scenes.
She said: "When we filmed difficult scenes we developed our own secret language of our own. With our history we could do anything without feeling stupid."
The 33-year-old actress - who has remained close to Leonardo since they starred in the 1997 blockbuster 'Titanic' - insists she trusts the 34-year-old actor implicitly, and would even let him hurt her if it improved a scene.

The 'Circus' singer dons a short blonde wig, a fitted pink top and a white skirt for the promo for her upcoming single 'If You Seek Amy'.
The pop star - who will kick off her 'Circus' tour in New Orleans next month - has spoken about the promo, which was shot earlier this week.
She wrote on her Twitter account: "The 'If You Seek Amy' shoot was super sexy and really fun! I can't wait for you all to see it. Love Britney."
It has also been revealed Britney has several costume changes and is surrounded by dancers "dressed in skimpy outfits" in the video.

Dev Patel Slapped By Stone
Sharon Stone slapped Dev Patel at the BAFTA Awards.
The 19-year-old 'Slumdog Millionaire' star asked someone to shock him to prove he really was at the glitzy British ceremony last week, and was quickly brought back down to earth by the actress.
Dev said: "I was on the red carpet with Sharon Stone and I said can someone please slap me - and Sharon Stone slapped me!"
Dev also revealed he is amazed at how successful 'Slumdog Millionaire' has been, because it was never intended for a cinematic release.

Rihanna has reportedly told police she was in an "ongoing and escalating abusive relationship" with Chris Brown.

Christina Aguilera To Soften Sound
Christina Aguilera wants to tone down her singing voice.
The 'Dirrty' singer has been working with her favourite band, electro pop outfit Ladytron, to help her develop a "softer vocal sound".
Ladytron founder, Daniel Hunt, said: "She's an absolutely amazing singer but one of the things she talked about was working with a softer vocal sound, so I think the stuff we do will feature simpler melodies."
The 28-year-old singer hired the band to help her achieve her new sound after she fell in love with the British quartet's music.
Daniel, 29, said: "We first heard that we were one of Christina's favorite bands last summer. We were thrilled. So we went over to Los Angeles to meet her in December where she identified the type of Ladytron songs that she liked. We were impressed because she had a real deep knowledge of our music - album tracks, not just the singles."
A live collaboration between Christina - who has a one-year-old son Max Liron with husband Jordan Bratman - and the band has not been ruled out, with Ladytron keen to show off their work onstage.
Daniel added to Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "We're going to finish off some more tunes with her in March.
"We haven't discussed performing together but I'd love for us to do something - maybe be her backing band for a show or two."

Tara Reid: 'sad' In Rehab
Tara Reid checked into rehab because she was "sad and conflicted".
The 33-year-old actress recently completed a 60-day stay at Malibu's Promises rehab centre - where Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears have previously been treated - for substance abuse, and insists the move was the "greatest decision" she has ever made.
She said: "I didn't like the person I was. I was sad and conflicted.
"Some people get forced to be in rehab. I went there by myself. I put myself there. It was the greatest decision I ever made."
Tara insists checking into the facility was one of the toughest times she has ever been through, but is delighted with the effect the treatment had on her.
She added to In Touch Weekly magazine: "The hardest thing was walking through the door for the first time - finally admitting that I had a problem. I had been in such denial.
"Rehab saved my life. Before I used to think about tomorrow and I hated it. Now I can't wait because I am clean and sober and I am excited."

Kylie Minogue's busy love life
Kylie Minogue has several boyfriends.
The 40-year-old singer has been romantically linked with Spanish model Andres Velencoso since October but friends insist their relationship is not serious and she is still dating other people.
Author Kathy Lette - a close pal of the singer - said: "Andres is gorgeous but I don't know if he's the main one. I think she's got a few on the menu.
"Kylie is just having some time off to have fun at the moment. She works too hard so she deserves it."
Despite Kathy's comments, Kylie - who spent New Year with Andres, 30, on a skiing break in the French Alps - reportedly travelled to her toyboy's hometown of Tossa de Mar to meet his father and sister.
A source said: "Andres took her to meet his family, and they all got to know each other over dinner at his father's restaurant.
"It was a very romantic break - they were able to go for long walks along the beach together and Andres showed her many places from his childhood.

Adnan Ghalib insists he is still dating Britney Spears.
British paparazzo Adnan reportedly told friends last month he is Britney's boyfriend, despite her obtaining a restraining order against him last week.
According to Heat magazine, a source claims Adnan - who has not been seen with the 'Womanizer' singer in over a year - said: "I still love Britney. I'm her boyfriend.
"Britney has a beautiful soul. We share something really special. The truth about us will come out eventually, but it's not for me to talk about. I love her."
Adnan's relationship with Britney, 27, was quickly curtailed when Britney's father Jamie became her co-conservator - and was placed in control of her money and affairs - in February last year.
In the same month, Adnan was given his first temporary order requiring him to stay at least 250 yards away from Britney - who was hospitalised at the time at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for observation.
Adnan abided by its terms until July when the order expired and wasn't renewed.
However, Britney gained another temporary order against Adnan and her former manager Sam Lutfi which accused them both of trying to "disrupt" the conservatorship order earlier this month.A hearing has been scheduled for February 23 which will review the restraining order.

Sharon Stone has a crush on teenage 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Dev Patel.
'Basic Instinct' star Sharon reportedly spent two days pursuing the 18-year-old actor during the BAFTA Awards weekend (08.02.09) in London - much to his astonishment.
Dev told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Sharon is great, she has been flirting with me all night. She was chasing me around earlier, slapping me. Sharon Stone! Can you believe it!"
Sharon, 50, had originally approached Dev at a pre-BAFTAs party on Saturday (07.02.09), apparently whispering praise in his ear for his performance in 'Slumdog Millionaire' - his debut film role.
An onlooker at the party said: "Dev is young enough to be her son- even her grandson, but that didn't seem to stop Sharon flirting with him."
Sharon sat close to Dev at the awards show on Sunday, and gave him a congratulatory kiss at the after-party to celebrate 'Slumdog Millionaire scooping seven of the prestigious awards.
The night didn't end smoothly for Sharon. She found herself stranded without a taxi to take her home from the party - held at London's Grosvenor House hotel.
An onlooker told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "After ranting for several minutes on her mobile phone, security took her back inside to wait for another car."
