Naomi Campbell's assault charge

Naomi Campbell has been charged with assaulting two police officers. The 37-year-old supermodel - who was removed from a British Airways plane at London's Heathrow Airport on April 3 - was told she faces prosecution on five different counts as she arrived at Heathrow police station, in West London, to answer bail yesterday morning (29.05.08).
Naomi's lawyer Simon Nicholls said: "Ms. Campbell is bitterly disappointed to find out she will be prosecuted on the five charges.

"Prosecutors in this case have decided she needs to be prosecuted in the magistrates court. She respects that decision and she hopes this matter is dealt with expeditiously."

Following the alleged assault, Naomi was removed from the flight from London to Los Angeles and banned from British Airways for life.

She now faces three counts of assaulting a constable, a charge which carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a £5,000 fine.

She also faces a count of disorderly conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress - for which she could be fined up to £2,500 - and one count of using threatening, abusive words or behaviour towards cabin crew, for which there is a maximum penalty of £1,000.

She will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on June 20, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Naomi refused to comment as she left the station.
